Alternative Healing for Animals in the Shadows
ALTERNATIVE HEALING FOR ANIMALS IN THE SHADOW OF EARTH CHANGES
For years we have been talking about, fearing, waiting for, gathering info and doing ritual, and otherwise praying to avoid or at least be in the best position to weather Earth Changes. The truth is they are upon us, here and now.
Spiritually, I believe that we still do have some choices as to how physically this planet needs to experience these traumas.
Scientists say that this is indeed a time of cataclysmic changes for the earth and its weather patterns that are cyclical over thousands of years. That does not even take into consideration the governmental manipulation of weather using H.A.R.P. The Elders of the Hopi, Mayans and other Ancient Ones tell of such changes. However, they also say that by raising the vibration of love and oneness we can avoid some of the more horrifying symptoms of such changes.
Clearly when the smallness and genocidal proclivities of the current regime raised their ugly heads during the series of Katrina disasters in the Gulf Coast, the deep goodness of the common people of this country shone brightly like a beacon for the poor and displaced.
During those difficult days,I rode through my little town of Melrose,in north Central Florida and saw any number of groups raising $$ collecting food and clothing for the survivors of this Diaspora. Left and Right, Pagan and Christian, regular people were hearing the call from within and responding in inspiring and profound ways.
This is a time of great polarities. What is good, is better and more elevating and inspiring than any outpouring I have seen in my life?
Likewise, the out and out unconscionable evil purported on the many by the few in power in many countries is despicable. I know that we only know a thimbleful of the heartlessness that resides in the bastions of our own alleged democracy.
So ironic that this government is so hot for free elections in other countries when our own have been so blatantly hijacked by the powers that be, the “shadow government,”and are set to maintain power whether they get the votes or not.
There are some ordinary folks that are showing their butts royally as well, not to be outdone by their leaders who set a poor example by simply not even following the “Golden Rule” that they claim to revere.
These are the “interesting times” of Chinese wry curse fame. One thing that these times are showing me abundantly is the fact that it is far easier to give to those in struggle, than to be in struggle! Having experienced a good measure of both lately. I speak from deep experience rather than abstract philosophy. I am grateful at this point to be among the helpers again.
I almost want to frame time as BK[Before Katrina] and AK [After Katrina],when the gloves of equal rights were torn off the bloodstained-white hands of the government as their collective masks of politeness and gentility were replaced with the hideous faces of greed and genocide.
When even a former First Lady feels comfortable to publicly make racist and condescending remarks in the face of people facing death and starvation, this is a national disgrace. Yes, living in a stadium without food or sanitation is an upgrade! One Red-double-crossed leg up from the ghetto! Right….wanna buy some good dry bayou property? How do you spell gentrification of the 9th Ward in New Orleans? I call it the most shady land grab since the white folks bought Manhattan for a box of trinkets from the Indians!
It was with this shadowy backdrop that I began treating the Katrina Hounds who have their own story.
HEALING KATRINA HOUNDS
Its been a long long day. I just returned from the Katrina Kare Barn where a local woman has donated part of her farm to be a staging area for the rescue, healing, adoption, and fostering of these poor animals.
I have prepped for 2 weeks making and organizing healing flower essence combinations so that I would be prepared to jump in and treat the many canines still being pulled out of the abandoned buildings and flood drenched streets of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast.
My heart is still breaking as I think of these displaced little ones. There were two that I just loved. One was a very cuddly golden dog named Rudy. He was found locked in a New Orleans closet 2 days ago. Can you believe he was locked in there for 5 weeks without food and water and he is ssssssso sweet? Rudy looks like a golden retriever/lab mix. He is very skinny and hates to be put back in his stall alone and can you blame him? Other than that difficulty which can be major at times, he looks really good, a very nice thick coat and wide friendly smile. Rudy was deadbolted into his home and locked in a closet with a dresser pushed in front of it! What were his people thinking? His rescue was not an easy one for sure as he was quite hungry when they finally got to him. His house had a note on it saying there was a dog but that it had been removed. The brave KARE team busted in to save him when they heard his pleading barks.
So many animals are still there and the search goes on for them with these Road Warriors making trip after trip to the Big Un-Easy trying to keep one step ahead of the bulldozers which are tearing down homes many of which are in poor neighborhoods. Neighborhoods where authorities never even checked for people who might be alive let alone animals.
So many more animals still barely alive and dying on the streets or locked in houses that may be bulldozed if someone doesn’t get them out. For this and so many other reasons, I am working with others to treat these survivors and get them in shape so that they can get foster or adopted homes. Then, there will be room for more animals and more trips can be made.
Some good news: I was able to hook up the Gainesville KARE crew with Jaye Perret from EARS[Endangered Animal Rescue Sanctuary] and the Ocala KARE facility which has lots of room for animal survivors.
This week several teams dispatched to New Orleans and the surrounding areas to hopefully save the most desperate animals still clinging to life and now there is space for them for as long as they need it.
I believe that Jaye and her team took in over 400 dogs and managed to return or adopt out all but a dozen of them who were deemed too aggressive to adopt and they now have a permanent home at EARS and are doing well.
I love seeing the result of treating all these canine sweeties with the flower essences that I made for them. You can see their eyes brighten and their frantic racing around slows down to a more relaxed movement.
As one might imagine, so many of them are in shock and suffering from separation anxiety. When you see that wide-eyed terror and fear in their eyes or painful wounds, then the Animal Emergency Essence works well for them too and many lap it up heartily.
Green Hope Farms makes some of the best Flower Essences on the planet including a fine line of Animal Essences,Animal Emergency being just one which is actually like a better version of the famous Rescue Remedy of the Bach Flower Group. Molly Sheehan, the mentor and creator of these wonderful healing essences was kind enough to overnite 8 oz bottles of this remedy,a Kare Mix that she made especially for this disaster and Abandonment and Abuse which of course they all needed. She figured that If i was willing to do the leg work, then she would at least send me the medicine free of charge which was such a blessing for the animals and the caregivers alike. This will be just the beginning of long term healing from this trauma.
One day these furry beings had homes and families and then, they didn’t, and on top of that, no food no water and a world of terror crashing down all around them. It is surely the tenacity and depth of spirit that has given them the fortitude to survive all of this and perhaps also the hope of seeing their loved ones again. Anyone who knows the love and devotion of a dog knows that they do not lose faith in their humans easily even when abused.
I don’t think that I could have left my animals in such an emergency under any circumstances, but those who fled because their lives depended on it, have had the added pain of losing perhaps their only friends in the world.
My heart aches for all of them, the furless and the furry animals alike. It inspires me to get out to the barn where they are being kept now to ease their pain. For me, I must protect my heart as an empath from feeling them too deeply or I would surely crumble along with them.
I made large and small bottles of these and my own combos for traveling and spritz bottles too for those who wouldn’t allow me to handle them and put essences in their mouths. It was most rewarding to leave the barn knowing that these little ones may finally have a peaceful nights sleep.
Another dog that stole my heart was called Hope as she must have clung to that as she saw the rest of her family expire. She is fuzzy and puppyish but may well be older. She is in deep trauma but today I got some tail wags out of her after her flowers. She is very very shy and no wonder, she was one of the last out of New Orleans this week, found on an upper floor of a barricaded house lying with and on the bodies of her other dog family. She was the only one of her family left alive!
You can feel what these little ones have witnessed, its in their eyes yet they are mostly full of love albeit stressed and suffering from every kind of anxiety imaginable. I sprayed down the stalls that they were living in at the horse farm/staging area and put drops in their water bowls and mouths when possible. I assumed that for most of them I would not be able to do direct care so figured out various ways to deliver the essences in the least invasive way possible.Their gratitude was palpable.
Many test positive for heartworm, many smelled of gasoline when they came in, many have acid burns on their skin from the chemicals, many were so hungry when they were found that they initially seemed dangerous and just needed to have food and water to be more themselves.
Joi from Earth Pets, who spearheaded the creation of this team of volunteers says that she will never forget the smell of these animals when they were first brought in as long as she lives.
My heart just goes out to these four legged furry survivors in the New Orleans Diaspora. Its like someone arbitrarily took the poor and their animals and shook them like dice in a jar and threw them all across the country. Its hard to see yet harder to sit and do nothing. The brave women like Kelly from the Gainesville KARE team who are hands on roaming the streets and busting the animals out of broken down houses are suffering from PTSD from witnessing the atrocities that they are helping to assuage. I am hoping to help them too with the essences and have written up some protocols for the care and maintenance of pet rescuers.
In short, give the critters some drops and take some for yourself too as many suffer from feeling the pain of the survivors. I must try daily to keep that pain and grief from overtaking me as well. Many of the rescuers are now as traumatized as the animals. There are images that can burn into your brain that you never forget.
Last week’s Katrina dogs were primarily already used to shelter life but this new batch were straight from the streets and barricaded houses of New Orleans.
Brothers Star and Wiley[the escape artist] shared a stall last night and were pretty much bouncing off the walls. This might have been their temperament anyway but this stress has clearly magnified everyone’s issues and behaviors. They looked like rat terrier mixes and were cute as buttons.
As Star came bounding by me, I took the opportunity to spritz him with the Love mix and Katrina Care mix that I made and saw the little guy go from 10 to 4 [10 being maxed-out crazy]right in front of me. Then he easily went back inside his stall for the night. Ordinarily, this was no small task. Getting any of the dogs in or out of their enclosures was often and predictably a struggle.
All the dogs are doing better tonight than they were last night when I first treated them which is so satisfying. As usual, animals quickly respond to vibrational treatments such as these and don’t ask to see your diploma or credentials. If you make them feel better they smile, perhaps wag or lick you and at the least breathe easier.
There are others at the staging area that were still too fragile and frightened to work on directly and as of today some are still very depressed but this is to be expected and is precisely what Flower Essences can heal in animals and humans alike. Hopefully the mistakes made during this emergency will not repeat themselves ever again but during these difficult times, we are bound to have more need for animal disaster relief and much of what we have learned can serve first responders for animals and humans alike.
A large number of cats were rescued too but they were whisked away to another facility before I could see them. Vets at the University of Florida Veterinary School are generously doing all the spay/neuters as well as some other procedures. This is how a community should be working, each one doing what they can and the job gets done. Allopathic and Holistic Caregivers working hand in hand with Rescue Workers with each medical model equally accepted and utilized as is appropriate for each animal or person.
Everyone is really doing tireless service with little food or sleep. Joi from Earth Pets and her crew, Melissa who donated her farm space and barn for the staging area, Jim and Jodie and volunteers from the Levy County Humane Society, Jaye and the Marion County Kare Group,Vets and Techs, and so many others giving of themselves that I do not know and we all heal some of this heart wrenching mess.
Good to be able to do something to offset one of the most horrifying tragedies of the 21st Century.
It is disconcerting to see how poorly most of the government and more mainstream agencies [including some mainstream Animal organizations]responded to this disaster. However, the openheartedness, ingenuity, and determination of the people of this country, the grassroots first responders, give me a lot of hope that when it really hits the fan, neighbor, will help neighbor and that good people of all kinds will follow their spirits to “do the right thing!”
As officials re-open the city of New Orleans, hopefully some of the critters remaining will be reunited with their families, many will not.
It is the intention of all the KARE organizations to reunite as many pets with their people as is possible.
One can never enter into the animal rescue world and expect to save them all, but one can do something and put a dent no matter how small in the suffering and to the few that you help, it often means the difference between life and death or at least safety and fear, and that means a whole lot.
Even without a major catastrophe, the plight of abused and abandoned animals is a serious and heartwrenching problem in this country and we must all do what we can to heal it…spay/neuter programs, adopting from shelters, etc.
I wish that I could say that I continued aiding the suffering Katrina Hounds in Gainesville,Fl and Ocala as I had planned. However a tragic fall leaving me with a bad spiral fracture of the humerous[upper arm] has taken me out of commission for the last 3 months and who knows how much longer. I do believe that the pain that I tried so hard to distance myself from had somhow overtaken me.
I was so frustrated by this turn of events and am taking it as a sign to put more healing towards my own body and furry family. No choice there. When you can’t even bathe by yourself, its amazing how in focus reality can become.
As I sit here in a cast and sling, tears roll down my cheeks as I read of the desperation still being endured by displaced, lost and grieving animals and people alike. I wish that I could do more right now! It’s almost like I needed to wear my heartbreak on my sleeve. These thoughts run through my mind as I stare at my broken arm peering out at me from my sling as I type with one hand and strong pain medicine.
This has been a year of continual heartbreak for me with Katrina being the global topper. Hopefully my arm will stabilize to the point that I can drive and also be strong and safe enough to start treating these furry refugees once more doing the healing work that I came here to do.
I will patiently and humbly await Spirit’s plans for me in this matter and continue to heal myself and my animals as one person’s work is everyone’s work.
I also recognize my over-sensitivity and deep spiritual intimacy with the Collective as being possibly linked to my injury. If this is the case, why not expect the reverse to be true as well? As I heal, the planet heals!!
Blessings
