One of the most profound experiences that I have had with an animal occurred several years ago while making a pit stop for some horse feed. This was to be a 5 minute errand on a trip that would bring my friend Julie to a woman who would introduce her to the owner of a tiger rescue downstate where she was seeking employment.
Julie spared no effort in picking the perfect attire for this interview. She was wearing a lovely pale pink shirt with matching slacks and she agonized over not curling her hair as we were running out of time. I assured her that anyone who could work with tigers didn’t need curled hair.

Our detour would take us to the BloomNSpot Appaloosa farm that belonged to my friend Betsy Bloom to pick up the feed that she had gotten for me. Betsy was off on another errand and so her young son Danny helped us get the3 bags of feed. All was going smoothly as could be until I noticed that a horse in the back pasture was lying strangely with her back leg up in the air. I brought this to Danny’s attention and fear flushed across his young face. “Oh no Flash,she’s having her baby, you have got to do something,you’re all she’s got!” he pleaded.

PLANETARY STATE OF MY UNION
I guess that Pluto planet or not thing is all settled. Whew maybe now Pluto will behave her/himself and not be so over the top.Poor thing began Capricorn as a dwarf for Goddess sake so is it any wonder that this little Napoleonic Planet would kick serious butt in Capricorn so doing the overachiever thing yet feeling somehow “less than.” Maybe now that Illinois has affirmed its true planetary status, Pluto can return to intenseity and not overkill.
I mean oh my aching horrorscope with little Pluto jumping up and down on my descendant like Bernadette Castro on her 1957 convertible sofa! Who knows just who will come knockin’ on my door with Pluto dilligently and seductively lurking at the doorway? Sort of staggers the imagination and makes one want to run for cover or at least eat a few pomegranate seeds and get a new black and scarlet wardrobe. (read on…)

Happy, Light Being in a Fur Coat

My little pup Happy is growing into a beautiful dog. Don’t get me wrong, she is still totally a puppy at 11 months old, however, I am starting to see some of her training really “stick”.
Her trainer and major fan, Melanie,has been a wonderful influence teaching her and helping me to train her through positive reinforcement.Melanie used to say that Happy had an evil twin called Snappy that came out on occasion and I was well aware of this side of her. For that reason, I felt that a firm but gentle trainer would be the best thing for both of us as well as for the sanity of the cats who she adores.

Being an astrologer, I could see the wild side of my angel in her chart and those aspects would create more problems if handled with domination. Truly whenever I tried that misguided path with her, it brought out more aggressive traits
Now simply pausing, when possible,to give her a few minutes of good attention when she is just starting to act out changes her back to her wonderful mellow self. Often when I am writing on the computer as I am now for an extended period, she would fuss and nip and now that I am stopping to hug her when she does it she comes gently and waits for her hug. One of my sweetest and quirkiest cats is Tucky. She arrived at Moonhaven by virtue of being dumped in the front yard and wisely crawled in and under a bush. I was waiting for a very late friend that morning as we were going to go to a Rock and Gem show.
My aggravation was building as I waited for her so I decided to raise up my vibration and attitude by watering the plants in the front yard. As I stood there, I could hear the faint mewing from under a bush in the distance. My Bear dog went running in the direction of the sounds. I had feared that one of my cats had been hit on the road but when we got to the source of the mewing, there sat the tiniest little gray tabby kitten. (read on…)

Wide Awake in Paradise 2008 Closes and 2009 Alligns
What a wondrous morning. I just finished a great outdoor shower as I like to do each day unless it is literally freezing. Thankfully today is warm and beautiful. Feeling fresh in my fluffy towel, I brought a bucket of food to my Appaloosa mare Chinamoon who was waiting patiently while “I cleaned up my act,” so to speak.
As she ate, I stroked her and  buried my nose in her soft fur filling my nostrils with her horsey scent. I have loved the scent of horses since I was a little girl and this morning it brought back fond memories and thrilled me to my core. (read on…)

The Dream is Awakened

It is Nov 5, and we have an inspiring new president.
I FEEL SO WONDERFUL and I just keep tearing up. When I saw that park in Chicago so filled with love and light I remembered the last time I had viewed that space and it was during the Days of Rage from the Democratic Convention, so many years ago. That was a police riot where so many of us were maimed or killed. I wept for all the years that some of us have held this vision of freedom and justice. Images of being tear gassed and followed by the police flooded my thoughts..How many years we have worked to fulfill Martin’s Dream, how many years to honor the dead in Rosewood, the freedom riders Emmett Till Rosa Parks, Harriet Tubman,SojournerTruth and Martin and Malcolm and Marley and Medgar and those that drowned during the Middle Passage and on and on. Flash SilvermoonI moved from NYC in ‘75 to be here in Florida in the country near a larger community to prepare for these “Interesting times”, not that I am as prepared as I want to be.
It is so importnat not to fear and panic though the economy is certainly a scarey wild ride and folks are scrambling to find something solid to hold onto as a bunker against diminishing financial security.
I think the gathering of food is a really good investment
within reason and gathering  supplements and the kind of things that we need that will keep is good planning as well. Basically the more self, and community sufficient that we can be will surely help us throough uncertain times. (read on…)

I am most grateful for all of the folks who jumped in and helped the people, animals and land that are in the path of this hurricane with their prayers, spells and good intentions..Sometimes Mama needs to clean house and there is nothing to do but get out of the way and sometimes there can be a gentling or shifting that can have an amazing impact. WEATHERING THE STORM NAY FAY The Contiuning Saga of the Storm that Wouldn’t Leave
My four legged familiars and I have been sitting on the edge of this Fay storm for days and it has been both challenging, frightening, grounding and heartwarming. So much time to let the inner emotional storms ebb and flow between chores, stabilizing the space, meditating, doing ritual, seeing clients, and basically hunkering down.
As I often do when some big hurricane,fire,drought is afoot, I contacted special spiritual friends to help me protect Moonhaven and generally hold a peaceful safe space for all in the path of the potential disaster. PLUTO IN SAGITTARIUS PASSING IT ON TO CAPRICORN
In trying to explore the last 12 years of Pluto in Sagittarius one cannot miss the fact that our government as well as others have become a theocracy, where one’s God or lack thereof becomes a major point of political power. HAPPY THE HELLION THE FIRST STORY
The only reason that I can even begin to tell you about my new little love Happy,a Flat-Coat Retriever/Golden Retriever mix is because I so wore her out yesterday and today, that she has slept most of the evening which has allowed me the uninterupted space to begin her story.
I had put my last dog Apple down in February and had been dogless these months waiting for my dog to appear and not really in any big rush. I had hoped that my dog Bear aka Spirit was ready to reincarnate with me again. The message I had gotten from another Shaman was that he was in a more angelic form and was with me in that dimension.
