Chinamoon,Living with the Mare Goddess

Chinamoon’s story living with the mare goddess part I** thought some of you horse lovers would enjoy this excerpt from my book in progress LIFETIME COMPANIONS: LOVE NEVER DIES

My dear friend Tara and I worked on Chinamoon’s auric field as she is in the process of healing from West Nile Virus. China’s aura felt quite strong and vibrated some 4 feet from her body. Last night when I rechecked her flower essences, I had the clearest understanding about her vulnerability to West Nile. I dowsed [a way of divining information] with my faithful pendulum over many boxes of flower essences before discovering that China in fact needed the remedy, Grief and Loss in her special mix for her grid. [a grid is a miniature healing temple, a template if you will, of the animal or person, created with stones, symbols, flower essences or whatever healing items you want to include]
China had been suffering much as I had been over the loss of kittens Manuelo and Serena, both of whom are buried near her stall. Each of them in turn used to play in her pasture with her like little gray bolts of light and joy dancing across the sand of her paddock.
I could hear China in my head blaming herself for not being a good enough protector, for letting them slip through somehow on HER WATCH. It became clear that she was somehow punishing herself at least emotionally. Her grief was palpable at Serena’s funeral as she stood next to me with her head bowed.
Because we became aware of China’s pain, Tara and I figured out a way for China to be more included in the home life of Moonhaven. Its always nice to be able to be closer to “Mom” when you don’t feel well … so we took a screen off one of the windows in the computer room and now China could put her whole head inside if she wanted. You know, like Mr Ed of TV fame.
I am reminded as we opened the window for her, how much she is a creature of habit. It took continual coaxing with carrots and bananas to get her to believe that this was truly an open space and not some very clean window. I played with her muzzle and blew her breathy kisses. China snuffled back kissing the top of my head still in disbelief that she could possibly have her head on my head with me inside and her out! It was quite a comical experience.
I believe that it is finally time to tell China’s story and who better to supervise than the Grand Dam or should I say Mare, Herself! CHINAMOON!,who is standing with her head inside the window!
It’s hard to find the right place to begin China’s story. Let me say that I have known her in at least 2 of her previous lives before as a German Shepherd and several other times in my other lives as a horse.
I will elaborate on that information later.
It all started, when I got the idea to change my life by changing my location on my 49th birthday. I had learned that my solar return [the chart of your coming year as seen through the lens of your birthday for that year] had all these great aspects but that they were locked up in the 12th house of hidden energies.
Being one who likes to maximize the positive as well as seeking adventure, I scoped out where I would physically have to be on March 18, 1999 in order to bring all those goodies into the first house where I could use them more easily. A word of caution, be careful what you ask for folks.
Ironically, LA was the place for me! Not typically finding that town to my liking, I wondered what type of new madness I was indeed contemplating. I did have a few friends there who would put Tara and I up for a week so what the hell…we bought some tickets and flew to LA.
Part of what I am trying to get across is that heretofore, I was and mostly am a pretty laid back kind of woman who does NOT do major changes on whim or impulse. All this was about to change as we partied like it was 1999,’cause it was!
Now you may be thinking by this time that this story is one slow boat to China..however bear with me and all will be revealed.
I found that the trip did indeed activate the strong “go for it” energies that I had hoped it would. That is why, when I was putting up one of my fliers for an Animal Communication Workshop and spied a simple index card saying, “Appaloosa Mare For Sale”,I was compelled to call the owner immediately!
There is a little bit more to it than that though. I had been told by my partner,”No more big dogs for a while!” And below the horse for sale card, was the face of a beautiful German Shepherd: free to a good home with her nose pointing mystically towards that card.
That nondescript index card said “Appaloosa Mare For Sale, A real yard puppy: loves water”
My heart was beating a million miles per minute. I MUST SEE THE HORSE I thought and hastily called Tara to see if she would go with me…after all, this was not a large dog!
I found out later that my haste was well taken as there were many who also wanted China. I drove like a speed demon to Heidi’s house where China was living. Heidi and her husband were moving to Idaho and needed to sell all their horses.
When I first laid eyes on China I thought I had found heaven on earth. There she was, a beautiful dark five yr. old Appaloosa Mare with eyes that could pierce your very soul.
She proceeded to lick me from every part of my body as if I were her favorite popsicle. I asked “Is she always like this?” Heidi said,” Yeah she’s friendly but this is a bit much even for her, I think she’s chosen her new person.”
I was IN LOVE! As I stroked her chest and looked into her eyes, I could hear her whisper inside my head and heart “Don’t you remember me?” I almost broke into tears right then and there. I knew that she was the reincarnation of my beloved German Shepherd Moonshadow. “Yes I remember you”,I whispered back as she continued licking my face. A short time later I gave Heidi a $500 deposit for China much to Tara’s and even my shock! After nearly 7 years, I have never regretted this decisive moment.
It took a lot of time effort and money to ready Moonhaven for China, whose name on her papers was Seekers China Doll. Clearly her name needed to reflect her new identity and she became now and forever: CHINAMOON!
I wasn’t able to see much of China in those tortuous weeks of waiting and prepping but the last time that I saw her in her old home, she clearly wanted to make absolutely sure that I knew exactly who was coming to live with me…again!
I began stroking China’s third eye [center of her forehead] and she loved it and went into an absolute trance for at least 10 min not moving even a hair. I broke the moment by stroking her neck and she released every one of her neck muscles in a movement that could only be described as pure poetry in motion.
Moments later, China began circling my feet round and round she strolled around me looking for that perfect spot and then laid down in a semi circle around my legs putting her head on top of my foot. By this time, Heidi was panicking,”Oh no is she sick?”, she asked.
Nah, I told her,” She’s just showing us who she is that’s all.”
Three years before, when my shepherd Moonie was winding down her life, she was afflicted by seizures. I often spent an hour at a time with my foot under her head to protect her from injuring herself on the ground!! China never repeated that performance, it was not necessary. I had gotten her message loud and clear,Moonshadow was back and bigger and more awesome than ever! Chinamoon was and is no ordinary horse…and we all agreed.
When she was first brought to Moonhaven, actually named for Moonshadow and me, I was concerned about how to bring China onto the land to her new pasture, barn etc..but my concerns were needless.
I began to walk her onto the land from the trailer and she strolled in like she owned the place and never looked back.
No worries, no stress, Chinamoon had come home.
and that’s JUST THE BEGINNING!!!
