MOONHAVEN IN MELLOW ROSE

MOONHAVEN IN MELLOW ROSE HOME SWEET HOME
by FLASH SILVERMOON
Moonhaven is an illuminating and mystical space and I feel that this place is my home to the very core of me. It is a space so familiar yet continually offers surprises when I take the time to wander amidst the citrus groves, listen to the night call of the many Barred owls, or sit beneath the welcoming arms of the ancient Grandmother Tree.
The Grandmother Tree is a 500 + year old Live Oak that was struck and split in two by lightning some 300 years ago. Now she presides over Moonhaven like some all-enveloping Druid Priestess.
What an incredible metaphor for Flash Silvermoon to live beside this Phoenix, this awesome earth sculpture that was struck by lightning and not only didn’t die but thrived winding its moss laden arms around my lavender house!
It would not be at all difficult to imagine or perhaps even see the Faeries playing around and under this Ancient One dancing draped in Spanish Moss with acorn caps.
This majestic tree enchanted my Pagan soul into buying this homestead and becoming her caretaker. I have been honored to be in service of such a profound offering from Mother.Earth.
Her ancient arms open wide embracing all that come to sit beneath her vine wrapped boughs.
When I stand beside her, invoking the rains to come or with a group raising healing energy for the planet and its people, I can often feel and almost see the spirits of the Native American and African ancestors circling in the billowing sage and cedar smoke.
When I first came to Moonhaven, the look was more manicured and the tangerine and orange trees were barren. Now the place is more like a well managed jungle with tangerine, sour orange,Key Lime, grapefruit, avocado, fig and Meyers lemon trees all heavy with fruit.
As I walk about this lush orchard, their white blossoms tease my nostrils with their exotic fragrance. There is no aroma quite so intoxicating as the night air filed with the scent of these blossoms.
The fragrances of Moonhaven change with the seasons as well as the time of day. The night time offers some of the most exquisite scents. Walking through the front gate in the moonlight, you are welcomed by the most ethereal scent of the peach colored Datura, the Angel Trumpet that draws you closer and closer til you get the full effect of its extraordinary smell. She stands next to my front door, a towering 10 feet of peach and yellow Angel Trumpets hanging off the bush like fragrant umbrellas.
Three kinds of jasmine and honeysuckle compete for your attention with a new Louis Philippe rose bush whose numerous tiny red flowers delight andl enchant. Yes these roses still have a fragrance!
I must say that I do have a rather unique relationship with the trees of Moonhaven. Whenever I gaze upon an old and decaying tree that needs to be taken down, and I acknowledge to myself that I must find someone to do that job, within a day or so, the blessed tree takes itself down and harms nothing. Even in a big storm, I rarely lose more than some fencing.
I am sure that it doesn’t hurt that I have gridded the whole place with humongous crystals to energize and protect Moonhaven and its inhabitants which of course includes the trees and the plants.
There is a serenity here that is palpable. When my friends, students and clients step through the gates of Moonhaven, they affirm that a quiet peacefulness and timelessness surrounds them while others even feel healed by simply being here.
Sometimes, even the wild life comes here to commune and refresh, Many owls, hawks, osprey, eagles, woodpeckers, hummingbirds, turtles, possums, armadillos, snakes and many lizards call Moonhaven home. It is very satisfying for me to provide this safe harbor for my animals, the wild ones, my friends and myself. We are one with this place and at times you can almost hear a harmonious hum.
Last night in the midst of a very intense storm, I felt the other side of living in this sacred grove. Will a limb come crashing down and possibly harm my mare Chinamoon? I try not to worry about her because she is most wise but she is outside while the rest of her family is in the house.. I have spoken earnestly with the native spirits seeking their protection against the raging rain and winds. I opened the window in the computer room so that China could put her head inside for strokes and biscuits, and to feel the safety of her herd.
I sprayed us both down with a gem elixir/essential oil mix called Angel Shield so that we could both relax a bit more. We have spoken about her tuning in to the wisdom of her ancient herd if she needed a deeper comfort and we stare deeply into each others eyes.
It’s 3 AM, the storm seems to be ending, and I feel it is best to call it a night. I kiss China’s soft muzzle and know that all will be well tonight. After all, I have this deal with the trees!
The morning sun lights the dew on the Spanish moss laden trees.
All is well as another day dawns in the sanctuary of Moonhaven in Mellow-rose.
