Lions and Tigers and Flash Oh My/
Lions and Tigers and Flash Oh My
Its been a long time since I had a day off of leisure without a new crisis rearing its head but this Sunday, I seized the moment to go to one of my favorite places on the planet, EARS Endangered Animal Rescue Sanctuary run by my 2 friends Gail and Jaye www.BigCatSanctuary.org check this place out if you want to see some gorgeous big cats.
I have been going there to treat and love these beautiful, awesome cats and other creatures for about9 years. During this time I havve built some wonderful relationships with many of the animals there. I have bottle fed some of the tigers that are there since they were no bigger than one of my house cats. This is not a breeding facility but sometimes, babies are abandoned by mother cats elsewhere so they come here. .When I get around them they chuff[sounds that tigers make when they are happy] and roll on their backs for pets and tickles rubbing up against their ample enclosures or turnouts to be scratched and snuggled.. Daunte, the white tiger I had treated and held right after he was neutered and continued treating and playing with for the last 4 years adores me. He shows me how much he has missed me by groaning and doing his sound which is half way between a lions roar and a tiger moan. Daunte lived for a long time next to the lions so he started to think he was one and developed his own unique voice that mimicked the lion voice.
I gave him some flower essences which he slurped up foillowed by kisses all over my hands. I love that sweet boy and his moans, chuffs, rubs and kisses told me that he missed me just as much as I missed him. I miss them all when I can’t visit for a long time which just happened over the winter.
EARS has about 46 Big Cats,tigers lions leopards,cougars,as well as deer,coatamundi,fenic foxes,giant tortoise,bobcatcervil,wolves,horse,monkey,
bush babies and dozens of rescued dogs and cats.
The pure power of the energy when standing next to a full grown 500-700 lb lion or tiger is simply awe inspiring and these are happy well fed, clean, cats with ample quarters and turnouts. No one here thinks exotics should be pets or bred so they have created a beautiful space for them to be safe and loved.
I have several stories about this place and the Big Cats on my Blog,FLASHES OF INSIGHT on my website below including a recent posting of one of the most magical moments of my life when I actually went into Duke the tiger’s cage with Durga to snatch him from the jaws of death. he is one my favcorite tigers and he is now totally healthy and happy.
I have been wondering what it would take to get my groove back after all my animal emergencies and other winter stressors becasue the Wise Woman’s Festival is right around the corner and I really need to kick my energy up a notch or two.
Gail was exactly right, I needed to get out with the Big Cats again and feel their rejuvenating energy.
Blessings Flash
